A Textile Work of Art: The Rubin Rug from Pakistan

Immerse yourself in the cultural richness of the Rubin Rug, a magnificent hand-knotted specimen from the heart of Pakistan. This rug is a tribute to ancient artisanal tradition, combining technical mastery with timeless artistic expression.

Technical Details and Materials

Made with high-quality hand-carded wool, this rug boasts a soft and resilient texture. The cotton warp ensures stability and durability, fundamental elements for an artifact destined to last over time. With a density ranging between 160,000 and 200,000 knots/sqm and a thickness of 0.9 cm, it offers a pleasant-to-the-touch yet robust surface. The chromatic irregularity, known as abrash, is a distinctive feature that adds depth and authenticity, testifying to the artisanal nature of the dyeing and knotting process.

Design and Symbolism

The Rubin Rug features an intricate and fascinating design, dominated by a vibrant red background. The central field is enlivened by a series of stylized medallions and animal figures, such as deer and birds, along with floral and vegetal motifs that evoke nature and fertility. These depictions are interspersed with well-defined horizontal bands in beige, light blue, and orange tones, each with its own repertoire of symbols and stylized figures. The border, composed of parallel geometric bands, elegantly frames the entire composition, reflecting the rich iconography typical of ethnic rugs.

Colors and Atmosphere

The chromatic palette is dominated by an intense and vibrant red, expertly balanced by details in beige, sky blue, orange, and ocher. These colors, combined with the abrash effect, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, capable of imparting character and personality to any environment. The Rubin Rug is not merely a piece of furniture, but a piece of history and tradition that enriches the space with its unique presence.
